Over the past few years, my blog has ebbed and flowed. When I first started blogging four years ago, I had oodles of time, so I regularly shared stories and memories. Then I got busier and started sharing photos. Then I got really busy and started sharing… nothing.
But I enjoy this community of bloggers and readers, so I keep coming back, even if it’s not as frequently. Life is different now since the COVID-19 pandemic, and instead of driving around taking photos, my husband and I have been staying close to home.
This has led to my rediscovering a love of sketching. I’m bound and determined to make this season of our life precious and meaningful, so things I’ve been leaving until “tomorrow” are now being done “today.”

When I was in high school, I had a wonderful art teacher who taught us how to do shading in pencil sketches. Pencil quickly became my favourite art medium. But after I graduated, I stopped sketching altogether. Now I’ve brought out the pencils and paper again.
It’s hard work, and I’m very rusty at drawing, but returning to an activity you loved as a kid is a great way to reconnect with the person you are.
This last sketch needed a lot of erasing and redoing. (I forgot how hard flowers were to draw!) But it’s good to know I still have a lot of learning to do, and the old sketching skills are still in there somewhere.

Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
Satisfying to be able to create something like this. So much of my activity is online these days. Makes you lazy! 🙂 🙂

Oh, I know what you mean, Jo. It does feel good to do something tangible when so much is virtual. Take care, and hope you’re doing well!

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed them. Meditative is the perfect word to describe it – I’ve found sketching immensely calming and tranquil during these times.
