I’ll bet the smaller boat on the right is the pilot boat going out to the ship on the left to pick up a pilot who has just taken the outbound ship through the inshore waters.

Thank you so much, Audrey! I had no idea what to call that smaller boat! That’s exactly what it looked like it was doing. I had never seen that before – it’s so interesting to watch this ocean activity, like witnessing some sort of choreographed dance.

Sometimes my husband and I get ice cream at the Beacon and drive up to Beacon Hill to watch the action on the water and along the road. It’s amazing how often that pilot boat goes out.
