If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ve probably noticed I share many photos of the ocean. Most of them are wide shots of shoreline and sky. It’s just so awe-inspiring to drink in the vastness of the scenery.

For this photo challenge, though, I thought I’d include a closeup I took while playing with the settings on my camera. I love the textures surrounding the rock and the sleeping seagull.

The water looks like corrugated glass, with interesting reflections and shapes. It’s a beautiful background to the central image.

Or is the Salish Sea the main attraction? Sorry, seagull, sometimes I find myself looking at the colours and textures of the water instead of the wildlife. And the sounds! The ocean is not quiet, as you can hear in this video.

So I hope you’ll forgive me if you’re feeling a bit of déjà vu about this post, thinking, “Haven’t I seen a million ocean photos on this blog?”

I just can’t help myself. As Longfellow says, “The heart of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me.”
