When I think of growth, I think of change – how it broadens our perspective and expands our horizons.

New Year’s Day brought us the first supermoon of 2018, a phenomenon where the moon happens to be full just as it’s orbiting closest to Earth. In July 2014 I photographed a supermoon from the deck of a BC Ferry.

First I watched the sunset.

Then I watched the sky change colour and waited in anticipation for the moon’s appearance.

Sometimes we invite growth and change into our lives. It’s like going to an amusement park and getting on a roller coaster. Scary and thrilling at the same time! I participate in these Weekly Photo Challenges so I can grow as a writer and photographer.

Some changes happen to us without our consent. They aren’t always fun, but we have great opportunities for growth in those situations too.

And some changes, like the sun setting and the moon rising, gently bring us along for the ride. They remind us that tomorrow is a new day with new horizons stretched in front of us.

Have a wonderful 2018!
